Helping Hands

Loving Hands Offering Hope!

Our story

Helping Hands of Potsdam, Inc. is a faith-based non-profit organization serving Potsdam, New York and the outlying area. It was founded in 2003 and is entirely supported by the kindness and generosity of local churches, individuals, organizations, and businesses.

We serve local families through our food pantry and lunch program, provide for the distribution of used furniture and housewares, and offer assistance with fuel, rent, and utility payments in crisis situations.  In this way we are able to help those who cannot afford to heat their homes, provide nutritious meals for their families, or who perhaps just need the spiritual support we can offer.

Helping Hands is staffed by a group of volunteers under the leadership of our executive director and a governing board consisting of pastors and lay people from numerous local churches.

We serve the people of Eastern St. Lawrence County including Brasher, Colton, Hopkinton, Lawrence, Madrid, Nicholville, Norfolk, Norwood, Parishville, Pierrepont, Potsdam, Stockholm, and South Colton.

Our Mission

Loving Hands Offering Hope is our mission. We love God, and become the hands and feet of Jesus by helping others. Being the hands and feet of Jesus means walking with them through their trials. We devote ourselves to helping people of all faiths, cultures, backgrounds and races without discrimination. Our overarching goal is to be the love of God to those in need.
